It is white crystal or powder in appearance, odorless or slightly smelly of isopropionic acid, hygroscopic and easily soluble. In water, the aqueous solution is weakly alkaline, slightly soluble in methanol and ethanol, insoluble in benzene and acetone. It is easy to deliquescence in humid air, loses crystal water when heated to 120°C, undergoes phase transition at 200-210°C, and decomposes into calcium carbonate at 330-340°C.Under acidic conditions, free propionic acid is produced, which is weaker than sorbic acid and stronger than acetic acid. Calcium propionate is a normal intermediate product of animal metabolism, and it is relatively safe after being eaten by animals. It has a wide range of antibacterial effects on mold, enzyme mother bacteria and bacteria, inhibits the reproduction of microorganisms, and can prevent the feed from becoming moldy.As a feed additive, it can effectively inhibit the mold of the feed and prolong the shelf life of the feed. If it is mixed with other inorganic salts, it can also improve the appetite of livestock and improve the milk production of dairy cows. The addition amount is below 0.3% of the compound feed (calculated as propionic acid) . At present, the preparation process of calcium propionate mainly adopts the reaction of propionic acid and calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate or calcium oxide.Manufacturing process method of Calcium propionate:Method 1: A process with a production capacity of 600 t/a by neutralization of propionic acid with calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide. The reaction of propionic acid with calcium carbonate is completely similar to the reaction of propionic acid with sodium carbonate.The main raw materials are propionic acid (food grade, content of more than 99.5%), quicklime (industrial grade, calcium chloride content of more than 95%), deionized water (arsenic and heavy metals are not required to be detected in the water). Neutralization reaction conditions: the reaction temperature is 70～90℃, the reaction time is about 2～3h, and the pH value of the reaction end point is 7～8. Concentration and crystallization process conditions .The inlet temperature of heat transfer oil is 170-180°C, the outlet temperature is 120-130°C, and the flow rate of heat-transfer oil is 6m3/h. Airflow drying process conditions The hot air temperature is 200°C, the drying temperature is 120-130°C, the material outlet temperature is 60°C, and the wind pressure is 4-5kPa.Method 2: The membrane chemical reactor prepares a high-purity calcium propionate, and the preparation process roughly includes the following steps:(1) First put a certain amount of deionized water into the above-mentioned membrane chemical reactor, and then at 50 ~ 80 ℃, the input amount of solid calcium hydroxide and propionic acid is in accordance with the mass ratio of 1:3.5 ~ 3.7 minutes 4 ~ 10 The batches are alternately put into the membrane chemical reactor, that is, a batch of propionic acid is put into the membrane chemical reactor, and then a batch of calcium hydroxide is added.
